Hehe,
I was still on active duty when my wife had our first son. She was
working in an emergency animal hospital at night at the time. She came home
from work, had a cup of tea, then woke me up to take her to the hospital.
The birth itself went bad. She was hallucinating about cats on the wall at
one point. I got into a screaming match with a LT. Col. (me being a
specialist at the time you just don't do this), but one of his nurses was
taking blood and administering drugs to my wife without gloves, and that's a
no-go.

Worst part. It was Friday night. I had just gotten home from what
is called EIB Expert Infantry Badge training. I had a sergeant major that
was waaaaaay to gung ho at the time. Made me come back in to finish testing
on Monday, then sent this NCO (Non-commissioned officer) that my wife didn't
know to pick her up. My wife told him right where to go, and then drove
herself home from the hospital, and went food shopping. Man is she the
best.

Now our second son was a dream. Labor was very short, and
everything went really well.

Tim

9 days. Not that I'm counting or anything. But, yah, I'm due in 9 days (the
16th). ;)

Of course, that means relatively little at this point. It could be tomorrow
or it could be 23 more days. (I think they induce when you hit 2 weeks over
due. Though, my doc and I haven't discussed that yet.)

Have I mentioned how hard it is to think about actual work stuff these days?
