My partner had gas and air for the delivery of our twin boys. She had been going to Hypno Birthing classes, doing yoga and the like, and found that it all helped her greatly. She tried to keep in mind the fact that giving birth is a perfectly natural experience which her body was designed to do. I wasn't the easiest or quickest of labours, but this preparation helped both of us remain calm and focused.
And for what it's worth, she was talking about wanting to do it all again within a couple of days!! This from the woman that during her pregnancy said she never wanted to have another baby!! It's also worth remembering what it's all for, and when you hold your baby in your arms for the first time, it's all worth it. As far as pain relief goes, I'd stick with gas and air to be honest, it greatly enhanced my experience :) i'd leave epidural well alone Look forward to hearing the good news over the next few weeks!! Dawn, my wife, had an epidural and was pleasantly surprised to find she didn't feel any pain whatsoever until the pushing started near the end. Of course she couldn't have the epidural until she was a certain amount dilated and it sure looks like it hurts until then, I've got scratches and teeth marks to prove it. She had a tens machine through early labour which she didn't think gave that much relief, but a warm bath did help quite a lot. As far as working in the last few weeks goes, you might as well work as long as you can, if maternity laws in the US are anything like here in the UK and you get a fixed period off work, it's much better to have that time with your child, rather than waiting for it to come. We'll be wanting plenty of pictures of the little one when he/she arrives, don't forget! -----Original Message----- From: Bill Wheatley [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 07 March 2003 12:08 To: CF-Community Subject: Re: New Baby eek so you're not married? That sucks having to work up until pregnancy the rest is good for the baby. Good luck to ya, you should tell them you can work at home then you can just get a laptop and work from the bed :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Deanna Schneider" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2003 3:47 PM Subject: Re: New Baby Um, cause if I wasn't working, I wouldn't be getting paid. ;) Also, I'd just be sitting around killing time and being even more anxious than I am. It's much better to be at the office. It makes the time pass more quickly. -d ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Wheatley" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2003 1:05 PM Subject: Re: New Baby > You really shouldnt be working in the last month at least why are you still > working?? :) > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Deanna Schneider" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2003 1:55 PM > Subject: Re: New Baby > > > 9 days.
