Ben, have you ever heard of a SportBrain? I have one of those that I need to dust off. It's like a pedometer, but you hook it up to a phone line and it transfers your data to a website. Then you can go on the site and see how many steps you took that day, challenge yourself, etc. They also have prizes/milestones for people who get so many steps in a period of time. It was $99, but it was a worthy buy :) Candace K. Brand is "Polar". Cost about $49. Has an adjustable thin strap which goes around your chest, and a wristwatch. Transmits pulse rate to the watch constantly when on. A lot of the exercise equipment (e.g. Precor) at gyms can read the signal. So I get the readout directly on the recumbent bike's panel. To activate, you just moisten the pads on the belt with water, put it on, bring the watch close to the belt, voila it starts transmitting. Take off the belt, dry it, it stops sending pulse, watch soon turns itself off. -Ben At 01:33 PM 3/12/03 -0500, you wrote: >Ben; > >Lent, your story, the anniversary of my Dad's 2 heart attacks and a stroke, >Bill's story (which just about gave me a heart attack) and the other >discussions of people's medical problems lead to this.
