The idea is to trap it in a lattice or 'sponge' which reduces the rate at
which it can flow and forces it to behave more like a liquid.  At that
point, the danger is the same as with any volitile substance -- that enough
escapes into an oxygen-rich enviro to allow catastrophic combustion (aka
BOOM!).
