Hydrogen is much safer than petroleum. The Hindenberg caught fire
because of the paint used, not because it used hydrogen.

If a hydrogen tank catches fire, just let all the hydrogen out into
the atmosphere. You get water. Not to mention hydrogen burns at a much
lower temp than petroleum.
