I can't tell you how much respect I hold those "Fn nukes".

I worked with dozens during my time as a Navy defense contractor.

They were as a group the most anal retentive, stick up the butt, unsociable group of
human beings I ever met.

But they were unbelievably competent. You could never rattle them, never shake their
confidence that they knew exactly what they were doing. If they didn't, they simply
would refuse to do the work. You could put them into a situation they had never seen
before, and if you could provide good documentation, you didn't have to worry about
_that_ part of a project again.

As a project manager, they were wonderful.

(But I am thankful I am not a Human Resources manager - then they were a nightmare).

You should be proud you were even _selected_ to take the training.

On a similar topic, did you hear about the Nuke school scandal? Trading scores for
sex? They are crazy. That is one school I wouldn't want shortcuts taken.

Jerry, I went to Nuke school. Well the first part anyway, I got booted
before the prototype phase and I can tell you it was insane. First off,
everyone is like 18 or nineteen. Then they put the school in Orlando, right
next to where the women go to Navy bootcamp. So every weekend there are
hundreds of just graduated women recruits ready to party. Yeah, I got alot
of studying done. Out of the 30 or so guys I personally knew there, I only
know ONE that made it all the way through. I dont know how much things have
changed since then (this was like 16 years ago).

I havent even talked about the school, it was very hard. Lots of work, lots
of homework. Not alot of time to do it all.

You were almost a "nuke"?

According to my father (a Navy Master Chief), you missed the other part of
that job title.

"F'ing nuke" was how I was taught to say it.

Yes I am only 24 years old but I have always been really interested in
the Vietnam era. I guess a lot of it stems from my Dad always talking
about how much fun flying was and how he remembers this and that (he did
2 tours as a pilot)

Enjoy!
