Why not make these lists subscription based, and charge a fee? Something
nominal, like $2 a month.

Where I work, as long as 1 developer each year saves one hour programming
through this list, the fee would be entirely cost effective.

Your totally correct that I'm community oriented and I do support BD as a CF
based product. The problem is really political. If I accept New Atlanta's
offer for the HoF site, then it'll cause bad feelings with some people (who,
I don't know but it will) at Macromedia. This can and probably will affect
things such as my standing as a Team Macromedia member and other things that
I have with MM (such as interview access and alpha/beta privileges). The
choice is basically one of cash/BD on one hand and MM/core CF on the other.
I know for certain that MM is not looking to hire me, fund me or support me
in any direct way. It's just not what they do. I also know for certain that
NA IS willing to fund me to an extent. I've offered both companies the
option to fund different community projects like forums, blog software, etc.
and NA was the one to 'bite'. Judith and I had an argument last night about
FA and it was almost closed down (time, money, effort, etc.) There's so much
that I want to do, so much to keep doing and so much that's backlogged. A
cash flow to support myself and the community would help greatly and that's
basically what NA has offered (I have to nail it down, but....) It's all
bound together. I'm sticking with the 'sure thing' at the moment, but....
