: Part of what's been holding me up with FA is (now that I : recognize it) a severe depression, having to do with the back : problems I've developed and a sense of the sheer amount of work : that's necessary these days to do FA. If I had someone who could : help me with the editorial work, I'm sure I could get it out on a : more frequent basis. So I got into this very paralyzing : depression: My God, look at how much work I have ... (Do anything : but that work because it's just too much.) : : The other part of my depression has to do with my perspective on : the uniqueness of what we do. When I started this magazine, what : we were doing was fresh and new and had not been done before for : CF. I had a sense that what I was doing was unique. Somewhere, I : lost that sense. I'm sure that what we're doing is still : valuable, but to keep me going, I need to have that sense of : excitement back. I'm working on it.
Okay, more me sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. But I know all about depression from the inside out. :-) You are absolutely right about finding new and interesting things to do, and keeping a sense of excitement about what you are working on. This I'm relearning, though I thought I knew it before. As far as overwhelming work, my only advice is to find the next thing to be done and do it. Repeat. Yes, I know that doesn't always work, and shifting priorities make it hard, and yaddada yaddada yaddada, but it's sometimes the only thing that keeps me from getting so buried under the pile of next thingS that the next thing (singular) never gets done. So find something about FA, or HOF, or whatever the next thing is -- something that excites and inspires you. If FA is what inspires you, I'm happy to help in my copious spare time. :-) Anyway, since it's something that gets asked again and again and again and again on the lists, I'll try to write up a short article about tag stripping sometime this week (no promises) so that you can tell me all about how bad my article authoring is. :-) Keep smiling. Or at least fake it. :-) Remember, we care. --BenD ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
