Well, it all depends on how much you make, and what state you are in.

Laws are different in each state, so double check with a lawyer or
accountant before you really get into it.

Being an LLC, my company income goes on my 1040 form in the dividends box,
which means thanks to President Bush, my tax rate on that is much lower.

Also, you are able to separate things from your personal life. My
photography business is incorporated, the clients sign with the company, not
me, and the company holds the insurance, not me, which means if there is a
lawsuit or something along those lines, I am able to keep myself protected.

The protections are limited, but they do exist.
