It's very likely the engine, actually. The truck just barely made it over
Tijeras Pass. While most people (including me) think fuel with that set of
symptoms the mechanic said something about not enough compression to start
but enough to run once it's started. Sorta. It cuts off while running at
random intervals, remember. Dangerous in freeway traffic.

Anyway. It seems possible to me that I look like someone who has enough
money to not care and few enough brains buy an engine that costs more than
I paid for the vehicle, so I am just advising all buyers to check the truck
out carefully because it does not run reliably and may no longer run at
all. I believe that if someone primes the carburator it will drive down my
very flat street, and maybe across town, but I am not guaranteeing even
that. I advised the guy that lives on the other side of the mountain pass
to get a towbar. And my rule of thumb is that I don't pay for major work on
anything this old that has other problems. It is a decent work/ranch truck
for someone that does their own work. I can do some work but I am not going
to overhaul an engine. That's the logic behind that decision.
