According to this article on CNN Money telemarketers can be fined by the govt for 11,000 per call and individually by households at 500 per call.
I don't know whether it will work or not, but at this point I am ready to try anything. I do not want to receive sales calls at home. If I want something I will make a point of researching it out and buying it on my own. I registered, I get a lot of telemarketing calls for the people who had my phone number before me. The other day I told the telemarketer those people aren't at this number and she tried to sell me something, when I immediately told her I wasn't interested, her response was, "Don't you even want to know what I am selling?"
