The PITA that is happening just this morning is telephone calls at 5:15 AM, 8:30 AM, and 9:05 AM which are from some kind of auto-dialer scanning for fax machines. They have their Caller-ID blocked.
I normally would allow the calls to roll over to the answering machine, but I also am getting support calls, and clients on the same number. As for telemarketing calls, Our State (Texas) has had a "Do not call" registry for a couple of years, however, out of state boiler rooms never even check state-level DNC lists. There has been a Federal Statute on the books for awhile now (searching for a link) that is supposed to make the caller stop calling if you reply with "Please place this number on your Do Not Call list", but that has never seemed to work. I love that script though, and have printed it out and will try it on the next call.
