What I usually do is ask if I can put them on hold for one second. Then I
put the phone down and let them sit and wait, and wait, and wait. After
about three to four minutes they eventually hang up. When you consistently
do this they stop calling because they know that when your phone # pops up
on the list that they are supposed to call, they know you'll do it every
time. It's a waste of their time and their commissions to sit wait for
nothing. Plus its really funny when you sit down to eat dinner and the
person is on the phone listening to you talk about how much you can't stand
it when telemarketers call right when your sitting down to eat dinner.

The best thing to do, even if you're not registered...

Caller: "Hello, can I speak to you about new windows?"

You: "Do you realise that I'm registered with the Do Not Call service?"

Caller: "Erm"

You: "Can I have the name of your company, I believe an $11,000 fine is
coming your way"

Caller: "Sorry, wrong number"

Dial Tone...
