LOL. I went the other way. My full name is Danalyn and I have to spell it every... single... time... I give someone my name in an official situation. And then we have to discuss why it isn't Daynah it's Dahnah, well yes, I realize that's not the way Dayna Andrews pronounced it, but it *is* my name and I am sure about that pronounciation thank you.
I named my son James. I did however inflict a similar hell on my daugher, who is Lara, not Laura, not Clara, Lara. What else are children for :) She also gets to have the old family name of Elin as a middle name. Lucky kid. I threw in an extra middle name, Rose, figuring she may well get tired of being special at some point.
