My late grandfather, Alfred Taylor Bowen had an entire wall in his office dedicated to plaques trophies and certificates that had his name spelled incorrectly on them, when he died, he had upwards of 50.
Most common misspelling of his first name was Alferd, he was also Albert and Alford on several. Mistakes in his middle name were less common; Tyler was what happend to it most often. and for the last name; we found Brown, Bowing, Boeing (yes, like the airplane manufacturer, which is weird 'cause he lived in Little Rock, AR and New Orleans, LA for most of his life; I understand it when people ask me 'cause I at least live in the Seattle area...) Bowlen, Bowling.
