Communism <-> Socialism is actually the other way around. Socialism is
any system in government that makes reforms to move towards social
equality. Communism is a specific implementation of that focusing on
extreme economic equality.

So in the sense that the US pushes equality instead of discrimination,
yes the US is Socialist.
