I read a bit about the WW World of Darkness stuff, and found a deep, depressing mood pervading all the books. The most 'upbeat' seemed to be Changeling, and even those creatures 'die' by losing what was it..Glamour??
The vampires must constantly fight off going mad, as well as the other clans....as well as not feeling..having to drink blood etc. etc. The characters always struck me as being totally f***ed and pathetic to put it bluntly. I could never understand why anyone would wish to *be* one of those characters. A vampire played as a vampire is a depressing, sad creature with no future. Ironically the people that embrace the extremes could be charecterised that way as well...so where's the 'escapism' of gaming and the enjoyment of playing a character as messed up as you are? ;-) It was just a thought I had about the system and the world that I could never get a good answer for. Most of the people I know that play WW games don't stick to the true style of play that WW seems to have described in their books and literature. They use the system and the rules, but the characters are more Anne Rice than World of Darkness. I can't say I'm sorry that the entire World of Darkness is coming to an end, though I wonder what will rise to replace it after Gehenna and the Gypsys plant the seeds for the tree of life? -Gel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm?link=t:5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm?link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm
