I can go for Mutual Defense Treaties, as they have been used for many years. The problem I have with it is that in the past the US has signed on these agreements with very small countries without giving much thought to our own interests.
One important thing to remember and to consider when contemplating these treaties is that each regime has its own agenda, and these do not often coincide with ours. Remember that Saudi Arabia hired the US to defend them against the invasion by Iraq, and yet still sent terrorists to commit the 9-11 tragedy. Did we go after the Saudis? Nope, we instead get ourselves mired in the Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq mess, with Iran and Syria soon to follow. If we took that cost, and spent it on our own national security, and defense of our borders and immigration, I still believe we would be far better off. I still think of the Arab countries who have little moral regard for human life, and place that up against the US policy of going easy on terrorist combatants, and cannot see a win situation. If we changed to a policy of executing terrorists wherever they were found, total domination of those that harbor them, perhaps it would give those who would cause damage to the US more thought. This is exactly the method they use. ====================================== Stop spam on your domain, use our gateway!
