<![CDATA[I sat through the last season waiting for something interesting to
happen, I was sorely disappointed in season three as well and I was
hoping that season 4 would pull it out. I waited for ~18 months to sit
through 13 weeks of crap (yes there were exceptions...). What the hell?
What happened to the crackerjack writing of the first two seasons? What
happened to the feeling of getting to the end of an episode and saying,
"What? it's over already?!?" Pacing disappeared in season 3 and I guess
must be sleeping with the fishes with Big Pussy, 'cause it sure didn't
re-surface in season 4...
It seems that after Sept 11, the writers/producers wanted to take the
edge off of the show...so as not to offend...
I can understand "Paulie's" back problems and what-have-you, but that
doesn't even remotely address the problems with the rest of the plot
lines. Why not just kill him off and plow forward? after all they
managed to kill off the most interesting character in a long while,
Ralphie; and yeah Edie Falco's performance was great but holy jumpin'
catfish Batman, one shining star does not a great season make!
I'm going to have to wait for the DVD on season 5 since I don't
subscribe to HBO anymore, but I'd like to think it'll be worth the wait.
