That's actually one of the things that I know I'm missing. Since I don't
have a background in basic CS concepts, I know that I lack some fundamental
understanding of loops, variables and conditionals. I mean, I know what they
are and I use them just fine, but I still feel like there're some things
about using them to their fullest that I don't quite "get" as easily as
others. For me though, things like database design, scoping, a parameter
passing were easier to grasp.

I know we've mostly been talking about the skill of individuals, but I'm
very lucky to work with a good team of people who each bring different
skills. Heck, our student employee codes circles around me at some things,
but I've got more experience at knowing how to approach problems. Just today
he needed help making something actually useable. He didn't understand that
people don't actually read what's on the screen and that we have to take
that into account.
