.NET. Going farther back, it would have been Lotus Notes-stuff
(LotusScript is a derivative of VB).
Would you agree that design can be done separate of a specific
language? I'd agree with you when you say that most of the programs I've
looked at were not well written. However, I think some design work before
starting to code would have helped tremendously.
