Are you trying to put that message in the Compaq system? I might be
able to do it for you depending on what type of BIOS is in the system. I
did BIOS engineering for the company I just left 3 weeks ago, but still
have access to all the tools and source code for building BIOS. If you
go to www.esupport.com <http://www.esupport.com/> and click on the BIOS
Agent on the front page, run that and save the results to a text file
and send it to me. I'll be able to see what the BIOS is and see if I can
put the bitmap into it.

I have an old Compaq Presario that's my proxy/firewall and a secondary
fileserver that looks just like comic book character after which it's
named "Juggernaut" and my main computer is WOPR.
I've been trying to find BIOS hacks that will let me have the computer
write "Greetings, Professor Falken. Would you like to play a game?"
before the OS boots.
I have some others - Winken, Blinken and Nod as well.
