So what is happening? You bring the backup file over and choose (in
Enterprise Manager, I assume) to restore database, right? Is this where it
is failing? What is the error message?

Its a sql server 7 backup file. I'm trying to get my copy of sql server
2000 (Dev edition) to read it and copy the database to my machine.
