Oh, well in that case disregard my rant.

Basically, I'd handle this just like positioning a multi-column layout. It
just has a lot more columns. Of course, there are times when a table is
appropriate. Say, when you're displaying tabular data. If you can say that
what you are displaying is a single record of all the letters in an
alphabet, then it's reasonable to display it in a table, no?
