Kill Bill was crap. Yet oddly compelling. He made crap because he was trying
to emulate crap. Sure you can appreciate the rough edits, wonky sound, and
wooden acting of the old movies. But those old movies are striving to be
better than they are and they're limited by their budgets; whereas,
Tarantino was intentionally trying to be worse than he is. But there was
still something oddly compelling about it. Still, if you've seen Kill Bill,
I recommend trying to find an old copy of Lady Snowblood.
Now my real personal gripe with Kill Bill was Uma. She looked like she was
whiffing with a bat more than wielding a sword. It's hard to take a sword
movie seriously when you aren't convinced that the protagonist knows how to
hold a sword.
Oh, and did anyone else notice the copy protection spots?
