So what is the next best distro to Red Hat? I usually like to upgrade
with every new version but if there won't be anymore I'd like to move to
another version of Linux. I tried Mandrake a couple of years ago and it
was ok and I also used Caldera a while back. I really like Red Hat, it
kind of sucks that they won't be supporting the typical end user
anymore. I wonder if all Linux distro's will end up doing this.

Dell is already selling the enterprise version with the year of support
in their software store for something like $900

Here is the article:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/33760.html
I'm not sure of the behind the scenes reasons. I'm betting though that
is has to do a bit with the whole SCO/lisence mess going on. Plus,
Since
they are just going to offer a pay Enterprise version, they may be
anticipating companies switching over to Linux.
It will remain open source to an extent but I would see a lot of
support
for this go away soon since your average hacker won't be able to
afford
to buy it.

I haven't heard about that. I wonder if they will drop in popularity
among Linux users if this is the case. I thought the whole point
behind
open source was to offer this stuff for free?

Has anyone heard about this? I'm seeing reports that Red Hat Linux
will
no longer be free after April 2004.
