Hey, Charlie!

I love Casablanca, too.  Watch it just about every time it's on.

If memory serves me correctly, Casablanca and many other films of that time
were originally filmed at an aspect ratio that was just a bit "wider" than a
standard TV.  TCM shows movies in widescreen, and when they show Casablanca
there's only a slight black stripe at the top and bottom of the screen to
make the whole scene fit.

I wish they still made films like Casablanca.  Entertainment by way of a
skilled cast, excellent writing, a director who is faithful to the writer's
intentions, and the only special effects being a strategic dissolve here and
there.
