I don't find that strange at all - a million dollars is a million dollars.  and
I sure do not fault her for correcting the information.    The remaining doubt
remains with the inclusion of a rape in the story, and she has allowed that only
because she does not remember, and cannot positively refute it.

Even with that, there is conflicting data taken from statements by medical
staff, so there will always be doubt as to that.

The story as told emphasizes the confusion and indecision by command and
control, which is probably true
