Why does govt. recognize marriage in the first place? If all people are created equally, then how come once a couple are married they are granted extra tax benefits and benefits from employers. Seems like discrimination to me. I mean what if you're ugly or have a huge aversion to legal forms? I heard someone say it promotes social and financial stability, well that's fine, but do it at your church and be happy that your marriage is recognized by god and your church or whatever. It's not the govt's business, and any conservative/libertarian here that says otherwise is being a hypocrite.
