Well, considering I already have a machine capable of running it (and no
desire to buy an XBOX), I think I am going to stick with the PC version.

Also, I feel more than a little nostalgia for the battles friends and I
used to have in college on Doom II. There is something about the idea of
sitting up late at night, the glare of a CRT the only light source in
the room, blowing things up with a BFG, that makes me feel happy.

Why bother getting a machine capable of running it?

It's already been dumbed down interface and interactivity wise for the
Console, so grab it on the Xbox :)

That is what I am doing for Deus Ex: Invisible War since I've read it
stutters on machines upward of 2.5Ghz with a decent graphics card.
I have a 1.8Ghz Pentium 4 with a Ti4400 128MB card. So....instead of
spending the extra money to upgrade my machine for now I'll just get
these games on the XBox, where the game would have been adjusted to
maintain a fairly constant, playable framerate.

Similarly with Prince of Persia Sands of Time. I got that for XBox as
well instead of PC.

Yay!  Running around and, uh, shooting stuff...

Actually, I'm already calculating the cost of a machine capable of
playing this with any level of aptitude.  I'll play the bejeezus out of
this, but in another year or so, when the Doom3 Engine is being used by
3rd party developers... that's going to be the best of all.

Quake 2 : Half-Life :: Doom3 : ?
