I'm not positive as I haven't made minimum wage in like 25 years or so but
wouldn't that put you well below the Govt' standard of poverty. If I am not
mistaken, if you make below that amount you also do not pay taxes either
(federal). I'm not sure about this but I seem to remember it from somewhere.

But then again look at the monopoly that is MS. Granted they are a beast but
they employ 10's of thousands of people. The majority of those people
probably make a decent wage. Shouldn't Billy boy be rewarded for creating an
empire that employs so many... If MS shut its doors what would happen to
those people. They would have to take jobs that probably paid less. Their
personal finances would be hit hard , they may have to claim bankruptcy
which in turn then effects the companies that will no longer get their
money. Those companies will have to lay-off to offset the losses...

Ugh. I hate this stuff.

I think I'll just go back to my diet pepsi and W-2 printing.....

Just curious

Who decides what's fair?  Why should it be the government?  Most elected
officials, hell most GS employees I know, have never had a real job.

Fair market value should be decided between the parties involved in the
trade.  Company A Hires Employee B.  They sit down.  They discuss what each
party thinks is a fair market value (hourly or yearly or whatever) and
either they agree and the person begins to work, or they disagree and the
person does not begin to work.  If company is unable to find anyone who is
willing to work for what they want to pay than they would have to either
close their doors or offer more money.

Make welfare available only for the disabled who cant work. Everyone else
gets a job vacated by the departing illegal immigrants or wherever they can
find work.

If someone shoots you on the street for your wallet and food, then they
should be punished to the fullest extent of the law (which should be the
death penalty in cases of murder)

As for minimum wage, I think a market economy dicatates a fair wage for a
job done, doesnt it?
