I agree - "Global Warming" refers to the fact that the Earth, as a whole,
will retain more of the Sun's energy.

Heat is just energy and so "Global Warming" means that our global weather
systems have more energy (heat) to work with.  The consequences of a more
energetic global weather system are unknown.

What is known is that the Earth's weather systems are getting more energy to
work with and that's causing climate changes.  The only dispute is what is
causing that change; humans or something else.
