Which is probably why there is only a muted push to get it lifted. I have no
problem with it being lifted and the market prices taking care of who's beef
gets sold. Hey if the prices drop enough, I can finally start buying beef
for my dog.

Not so sound entirely cynical, but the ban also serves to limit the
competition with American producers. Less Canadian beef in the market
mean more US beef is sold.
