Stolen laptop :(

Hey guys, my friend had her laptop stolen at her university.  I was wondering if there was a way to ping the laptop (it has a guest account) or search it for its mac address or something like that u know what I mean!

Or maybe ask the IT department if they can alert us if a computer with the correct mac address logs into the wifi.

it's a 2,000 laptop (silly girl)

PLEASE HELP!  SHE's really depressed!
