Actually from the sounds of it you just hit a stupid bureaucrat. I've never
had that trouble getting documents from either Winnipeg or the interior of
BC. What you have to prove is that you are you. For all that person knows
you may be using it to establish an id for something else. Canadian
passports, for instance, are pretty expensive in the alternative markets
from what I understand.

As for the places, its more of a mindset than anything. To give you an idea,
when I doing hypnosis research we found some interesting correlations
between geography and responsiveness to hypnosis. When we did assessments in
places that tended to be like the prairies, they tended to have higher
scores on those scales involving increased attention, and hypnosis than
those from more mountainous regions. In other words people form the prairies
tended to be able to have more intense attentional focus. Unfortunately I
never formalized the data enough to do a paper on it.

You were born in Thunder Bay??? No wonder you emigrated. (runs) Actually, I
know little about the place except maybe we stopped for lunch there one of
those times we drove from Edmonton to Toronto. Isn't that where they have
the Sleeping Giant? We are talking dim childhood memories here. Ditto
Winnipeg. First anything in a whole lot of flat.

Still. You know what I am talking about... the incapacity to conceive of the
idea that anyone would *not* be flying to Mexico. The of course you have
reservations thing. And why in the hell do I have to prove anything is my
point. I was born there, I would like my birth certificate, I am willing to
pay for expedited service.  It's all very Canadian, and I mean that in the
smug and parochial sense. Present company excluded, since it has shown an
awareness of a world outside of Ontario.....
