Much of South Carolina will not allow stores to open up before 1pm on Sunday.
When we got the lottery last year, some state legislators were trying to outlaw purchase of tickets on Sunday.
Rock Hill, SC - a suburb of Charlotte - only got MTV about three or four years ago. I believe there's somebody on this list who works at the company that wouldn't allow it - Comporium.

When I bought my new car on Saturday, the dealer told me that they weren't
allowed to sell on Sundays. Also, even down here where beer and alcohol is
the state drink, you can't buy alcohol before 11 AM on Sunday (or maybe
12PM, not sure). I remember having to wait to checkout at Sams. Totally and
completely nuts.
