No we should not. Because the two cannot be compared at all.
There is something to be said about the method of death, that quite
logically has far greater impact and significance in one case as opposed
to the other.Similarly with human beings intentionally causing the
widescale massacre of other human beings.
I am of the opinion that it is quite inhumane and grossly insensitive to
attempt to sanitise and marginalise the issue by comparing the
intentional massacre of humans to unintentional road fatalities. It is
perhaps the most specious comment I've heard in a while.
By the same token as the Radio 2 comment,America should get its head out
its ass and stop making a big deal about 3,000 people and two ugly
towers falling on 9/11.More people than that die on the roads in the US
every year. What's the big deal? Rebuild the stupid buildings and stop
bombarding us with inane terrorist threats.
I am sure that Americans who may be likely to agree with the Radio 2
statement without first analysing it, will have a different opinion when
the comment is applied to America in this way.
