Marshal in Baghdad against one of the 24 year specialists in only ten days.
I guess no one finds it strange that while these incidents took place last
summer and fall, nothing at all was being done against anyone until the first
series of photos were made public by 60 Minutes II.
I still predict the government will toss a few enlistees to the dogs, and all
the higher-ups will get a walk. And the band plays on.....

Where to begin.
Larry, I agree with you, always assuming tha thte pictures are genuine. I also
find it troubling that the British are finding this out through the American
press. Did anyone else see the story about the British regiment that is involved
being ordered to hand in ALL snapshots taken in Iraq? Hmm.
Having said that. The Bush administration seems to want to tough it out. The
best defense secretary the US has ever had indeed. Regardless of his fine
qualities as a person there are credible accusations of war crimes.
Some cynicism is called for here given the major to-do that was made about
exempting the US from the international law governing war crimes a while back...
and the ongoing disregard for prisoner rights. Hell, the admnistration is
currently maintaining that it can do what it wants to whomsoever it considers an
enemy combatant correct? Has the Supreme Court ruled on that? Not that it has
jurisdiction in Iraq, but the administration is claiming the right to do this
*in the US*
Jim, I don't think Gel is talking about the God of all Americans, just the one
of George Bush and his henchmen. I leave it to someone else to work out whether
he is being overly harsh; I am not very fond of big-daddy jingoistic gods
either, as I am sure you have all gathered.
Anyone else here ever read Terry Pratchett's Small Gods?
