Subject: RE: ColdFusion VS ASP Point 1

The point of whether Allaire support was good or not is moot (although
always found it pretty good).  Macromedia support has been good on the other
hand - and that is the point to make.

If it will help I work at MetlLife and there are quite a few large (but
Intranet) projects using CF.  I personally can't get my project to upgrade
from 4.5, but that's a different story.  One of the CFMX projects, DAS
("Distributed Application Services") is used enterprise wide to manage
application resources and updates.  Personally I work for New England
Financial (www.nefn.com) (a fully owned subsidiary of MetLife) and we've
using CF for many years (since v2).

There is, of course, a tremendous amount of support from Web Resources.
I've a short list here:

http://www.depressedpress.com/DepressedPress/Content/ColdFusion/Resources/In
dex.cfm

Also there are many user groups and many official and unofficial conferences
( http://www.cfconf.org/ has a good list).

Also you need to challenge their statements about support and how they've
determined that there will very few developers in the new future.
ColdFusion MX, as a counterpoint, has been best selling CF ever - I believe
MM announced that their seeing a nearly 30% "new user" buy rate (in other
words 30% of the CFMX licenses sold are to people that never used CF
before).

I would be happy to stand in as a CF Reference if you need any - although I
can't officially claim to be a MetLife spokesperson of course.
