yes, I had major difficulties with Java and CF5.0 on linux RH 7.1 to cut a long story short the JVM that ships with coldfusion does not work!!!!
the only way that we could resolve this problem was to change the JVM to the Blackdown JVM, and everything was just fine and dandy after that.
