We've also had success with JVM nad JRE 1.3.1_01 from Sun.

Here is also a helpful resource for setting up the JVM with ColdFusion and
Linux.

Macromedia did report that there were problems with the JVM shipped with CF
5.0, although I don't remeber where I found it. They first discovered
problems with their applets. I think it's Sun's version 1.3 that is shipped
with CF 5.0.
