Well, wait until you start digging into the java api's and doing cool stuff 
with it.  Example, I asked around for ways to find out how to interface 
with the image library APIs in java and got some good answers on 
cf-talk.  With java api's like imageJ out there, they're pretty damn easy 
to interface with.  Image J helped me crank out 60+ thumbnails for a 
directory full of jpgs in a matter of seconds (on Windows, having a path 
issue on linux).  At any rate, don't be shy with it, experiment... who 
knows you could find some cool stuff under the hood.  I think it's far from 
a buzzword, it does have some use...
