OK,

I've done everything suggested so far and htmldoc is still refusing to play
ball with cfexecute :(. I actually used cfx_shellexec on my windows version
as the code was originally written for cf4.01 which IIRC had poor or in fact
no cfexecute support. Also, IIRC I stuck with using cfx_shellexec as I was
unable to get cfexecute to play nicely with htmldoc on cf 4.5x on windows.

CFX_ShellExec doesn't appear to be available online anymore and I seem to
recall it is a windows only tag anyway.

This is rather worrisome as it is a major part of my applications, used for
a myriad of publishing scenarios from brochures & factsheets to invoices and
reports. Might be time to investigate using java to call htmldoc - I see
they give an example java class file to use.

Will report back on my success or lack thereof.

Dave
