I've been lurking on this mailing list for a couple weeks now trying to
find the answer to this question myself. Just installing CFMX for J2EE
was a huge headache, and although we've had a subscription to CFMX on
Windows since it first came out, I still haven't even upgraded our live
server from CF5 -> MX. I'd really like to move from CF5 on Windows to
CFMX for J2EE on linux but I have really bad feelings about this
product's stability :-( I'd love to hear about any first-hand
experience people have.

We are currently using mx on linux (apache 2.0.39). We've encountered
some issues with coldfusion not processing the pages, either the code is
displayed as html or a download prompt is submitted to the user. These
errors occur about 10 to 15 percent of the time. By stopping and
restarting the coldfusion processes, the pages are displayed properly
again. We've had to modify our monitoring tools to detect for specific
page displays from coldfusion and shutdown apache on failure to insure
proper cluster behavior.

If your application is for a business critical app, I don't think mx on
linux is exactly ready for prime time. If your EULA don't require a
very strict uptime, it may be ok for you to run.

Just my opinion from my experience.
