Well thats a fun set up! i love messing with new servers.

For the first, I have, and still am running MX on a dev dual xeon box with
512 ram, this is not a P4 based xeon but still xeon. I wouldnt imagine any
incompatibility, but i cannot verify that.

I have run, on that same box, RH7.2, 7.3 and 8.0 all have worked flawlessly
(as far as the OS goes) MX was picky. The 7.3 was the hard one, i believe.
We kept locking the box when under a load test, finally when RH8.0 came out
we were able to install MX+updater 2( havent had time to get updater 3 on
it) with the default apache install. It comes with 2.0.43 i believe (sorry
havent had to mess with the config in a while).

I cant really respond to the MX on 8.0 from the macromedia side, Im sure
there is a reason , but personally i have yet to find it. Again that is JUST
ME.

The Apache 1x to 2x is really dependant, and correct me if i am wrong, the
default config on both apache and MX leaves it a bit unstable on 1x, 2x is
better but tweaked they would probably be equal. With that, My box is
running the default apache from RH8.0 and cfmx + updater2 with only a few
mods to the config files such as taking the cfide dir out of the web root
and creating an alias to it, stuff that really does not change apache or MX.

Well hope that gets u somewhere.
