All,

on behalf of the OceanSITES project (www.oceansites.org), I would like to
introduce a new standard name for the chlorophyll-a concentration in sea
water.

I have found an existing standard name for chlorophyll concentration in sea
water, but not explicitly chlorophyll-a. I know that there are measurement
techniques that measure one but not the other, not to mention possible
inclusion of phaeopigments. Hence the need to be more specific.

The existing name is:
mass_concentration_of_chlorophyll_in_sea_water

I found it on:
http://cf-pcmdi.llnl.gov/documents/cf-standard-names/standard-name-
table/13/cf-standard-name-table.html

Based on that, I would propose the following new standard name:

mass_concentration_of_chlorophyll_a_in_sea_water

Canonical units would be: kg m-3

Any objections?

Regards, MATT LANKHORST
