Here is an email that I sent offlist to the topic originator. I did not
realize that it did not make it back to the list...

I have had a couple of experiences like this, and both have evolved the
same way.

Based on the very limited knowledge I have on your situation, it is
quite evident that they do not respect you. They do not respect your
development skill, and they do not respect the conditions that were
apparently agreed to when you were hired.

We could go further... They do not respect the client/project as
evidenced by the fact that the key players are not on the job. The
manager and the bug hunter are AWOL.

Here is a hint... Telling them they are a bunch of idiots is not going
to solve the problem. So, if you want to confront the situation, turn
the tables a little bit and ask them point blank what you have done to
deserve such a low level of respect. This puts the burden of
responsibility back on them. Write it out. Specifically ask what
happened to this agreement, and that agreement, and the work process
that included bug-checking, etc.

Make it a team approach. Illustrate the fact that the current project is
suffering from the lack of teamwork. Don't make it a "me vs. the system"
battle or you will lose. Make it clear that YOUR objective and the
company objective are one and the same.

If you don't ASK for this information, you are not going to get it. If
you don't ASK for respect, you are not going to get it. If you don't
DEMAND change, it ain't gonna happen.

This all adds up to my previous statement that people get treated the
way they ALLOW themselves to be treated.

Don't be mad at them. Be mad at yourself for allowing them to treat you
the way they have.

Good Luck.
