ColdFusion is a web application development language that works similarly to
ASP. You embedded special tags in your HTML documents that allows you to add
rich dynamic content to your pages. You can also develop complete web based
applications using tags that connect yoru web program to databases.
The best known books on the subject is are from Ben Forta. You can get his
ColdFusion 4.0 Web Application Construction Kit from most bookstores or from
Amazon.com. Every CF developer I know has this book and the "Advanced"
sequel to it.

Subject: Hello
Hello all,
I have just accepted a new job with a company running
their intranet servers, IIS4 on NT4. They also run
Cold Fusion 4.5, and unfortunately I do not really
know much about Cold Fusion. I have been plowing
through the handbook that comes with the product, but
this appears to assume you have some prior knowledge
of the product, which I don't. Could anybody tell me
what Cold Fusion is really used for, and maybe point
me in the direction of some good books or web sites to
look at to try to get at least a basic understanding
of Cold Fusion - what it is used for, what it can do
etc.
TIA,
Thomas.
