Tim,
After a grueling weekend setting up student machines for the dorm network, I
have a possible fix that you could try. This was what I did whenever
localhost or 127.0.0.1 called a dialup window. Go into Internet Options,
and re-run the Internet Connection Window. When I did this, and told the
ICW that I connected through a LAN connection, everything worked right, and
the DUN window went away.
I can't say that this will solve all your problems, but it may fix a few.
