Actually you can upgrade from Professional to Server, however you can't if you have an update version. Which requires you to have NT 4.

I have had problems ever since with both, in fact in the end only professional would boot..... If I had to choose again, I would back everything up to CD's format and format the drive and install server onto a blank canvas.
